JNTU Grading System and Regulations
JNTU follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under autonomous regulations R20, R19, R18, and earlier versions. The grading system uses a 10-point scale where grade points are assigned based on the percentage of marks obtained. Each subject carries credits typically ranging from 2 to 4, with practical and theory subjects weighted differently.
The JNTU grading system ensures consistency across all three campuses—JNTUH serving Hyderabad and Telangana region, JNTUK covering East Godavari and coastal Andhra, and JNTUA for Rayalaseema districts. While minor variations may exist in specific regulations, the fundamental SGPA calculation method remains uniform.
JNTU SGPA Formula
JNTU grade points are assigned as follows: O (Outstanding) = 10, A+ (Excellent) = 9, A (Very Good) = 8, B+ (Good) = 7, B (Average) = 6, C (Below Average) = 5, and F (Fail) = 0. This standard grading scheme applies to regular theory examinations, internal assessments, and laboratory courses.
